PocketMac Ringtone Studio
Pros: Unlimited ringtones for free. Easy to use. Can use most file types.
Cons: Can’t play protected AAC audio files. It costs $29.99.
If you're like me you love having a different ringtone for everyone in your contacts list. But if I had to buy ringtones for all of my friends I would go broke. PocketMac thinks so too, so they developed PocketMac Ringtone Studio. Now you can make your own ringtones using any kind of music, even if it’s purchased on iTunes. You can even use parts of videos as ringtones!
PocketMac Ringtone Studio has an easy to use interface. When you open it up, it looks like a giant iPhone. To create a ringtone just drag a song onto the screen. After you do that it will come up with the music. You then drag the mouse though the clip and select up to 39.9 seconds to be your new iPhone ringtone. You can zoom in and out of the clip in the view menu.
This app does have a few bugs. It can’t play protected AAC audio files. If you put one in the drop zone the application seems to freeze. The other problem is when it makes a ringtone it puts a random number in front of it.
This app is great if you want to make a lot of ringtones. If you only want one ringtone though it's probably easier to just go though iTunes and buy it. Over all I would rate this Application 80 out of 100.
From today to November 30th Pocket mac is having a contest for a free iPhone 3G.
