Apple Facing Lawsuit Regarding iPad Overheating Issues

By Davies DeCesare-Fousek on Jul 27 | 12:13 pm, in Apple News

Bloomberg is reporting that Apple is now facing a new lawsuit regarding the issue of iPads overheating in sunlight and warm conditions. Read more.

From Bloomberg:
"The complaint, filed July 23 in federal court in Oakland, California, seeks unspecified damages and class action, or group, status. It claims the iPad “does not live up to the reasonable consumer’s expectations created by Apple” because it “overheats so quickly under common weather conditions.”

The iPad has a 9.7-inch touch-screen display that lets users read books and magazines, view videos, play games and surf the Internet. In direct sunlight, the tablet “turns off, sometimes after just a few minutes of use,” according to the complaint.

iPad users will receive a message (below) telling them that the iOS device must cool down before use. iPhone users will receive the same message.

Apple has a page in their support forums that is intended to tell users how to keep their iOS device in the acceptable operating temperature ranges. The issue of overheating has come up more in Apple's iPad, for unknown reasons. The lawsuit states that the iPad does not live up to original expectations by Apple and that it overheats in normal weather conditions.
