Exclusive: Apple's New Security Measures Against Fake Purchases

By Will T on Jul 26 10 | 11:33 pm, in Apple News

About a month ago, the App Store was hacked. As a result, 400 accounts were used for fraud purchases. Apple promised a fix, and about a week ago it was put in place. Now every time you add a new device, iTunes asks you to confirm your credit card security code. Read more.

It's pretty simple, every time you want to purchase something for the first time on a different iPhone, or device you will be asked to confirm the security code on your device. This makes it much harder for people, thieves and hackers to make fraud purchases because now one must confirm credit card information to make a purchase on a new device instead of just the password. When purchasing or downloading an app on your iPhone from a different account for the first time, you will get a message like this.

After you confirm the security code you are now able to download/purchase the app, and continue using your account as previously. Leave a comment or send an email to us if the same thing is happening to you.

Happened on my sons new iPod touch he just got for Xmas. When trying to update apps it has a different email that does not belong to us. Since we don't have the password to that email we cannot update apps. What do we do now, I was gonna take it to the apple store when we get back home.
